  1. Need to have climbing experience?

    A: No, the climbing section that the trail has is basic and the guide takes all the safety equipment to overcome it.

  2. How long does the trail take?

    A: Approximately 2h30 to 3h30 climbing up the trail. The whole activity lasts around 8 hours, however it can vary according to the rhythm of the group.

  3. Is it very difficult?

    A: It is considered a moderate upper level trail. However, anyone with the least physical fitness can do the trail.

  4. Can it be done by children or the elderly? Child or elderly pay half?

    A: It can be done by children from 7 years of age on. We do not have maximum age restriction. The value is the same for everyone.

  5. And if it rains on the activity day? Is it still happening?

    A: If Nattrip sees a probability of heavy rain, that may compromise the progress of the tour, we will inform the participants in advance.

  6. Can we go in the afternoon/evening? Can it start at 9:00 am? 7:30 is too early!

    A: The Park’s opening hours are from 08h00 to 17h00, we can only hike the trail within these hours, respecting the Park’s Management Plan. We always cherish for the safety and well-being of our guests and due to the intense visitation of the Park we always advise to start at 8:00 a.m. maximum.

  7. Do you have a discount for 3 people?

    A: We offer discount for large groups of 6 or more people. If you wish to pay cash directly at Nattrip agency until the day before the tour, we can give you a 10% discount.

  8. What is included in this value?

    A: There are several items of intangible value involved, such as the training and experience of professionals from customer service to field operation. The Adventure Tourism Leader (ISO 21102) is a tour guide specialized in Mountaineering and Vertical Techniques. He has all necessary knowledge on the tour and furthermore will indicate the best places and angles for photographs. The value also includes the professionals who will be monitoring the activity from within the agency. Included in the quantifiable items are the Pedra da Gávea Trail guiding, the climbing equipment to be used during the Carrasqueira climbing transposition, as well as pre-tour assessment and personal accident insurance.

  9. Can I bring my Pet?

    A: Domestic animals are not allowed to enter Conservation Units due to zoonosis, which is the transfer of micro-life (bacteria, viruses, etc.) between domestic and wild animals. The pet may receive veterinary care, but the wild animal does not have this benefit.

  10. Can I use sandals?

    A: No, only enclosed shoes. We recommend shoes with good adhesion.

  11. Is there telephone signal or network?

    A: Yes, most of the trail has phone signal and 3G or 4G internet.

  12. How do we get from the meeting point to the trail?

    A: Walking in the company of the Tour Leader (Guide).

  13. Is there risk of assault or robbery?

    A: Just like anywhere else in Rio de Janeiro or any big city, there is a risk of theft. Though, the Environmental Police Command and the Municipal Defense Environmental Defense Group are working in the Tijuca National Park. There has never been an occurrence with any of our groups.

  14. What should I bring?

    A: Comfortable footwear with good adhesion, closed and coated (Tennis, Boot, etc.), light snack, water compartment (we suggest carrying at least 3 liters), garbage compartment, sunscreen, for those who are allergic to Mosquitoes, we advise to bring repellent. Backpack to carry your belongings is mandatory. No handbag or shoulder bag will be allowed.

  15. The tour guide takes photos?

    A: All of our guides know the best photo spots and will be there to advise and assist you, but they are not professional photographers and will not be carrying photographic equipment.

  16. How much is the tandem flights from the top of Gavea?

    A: The flights from top of Pedra da Gávea are made only by professional sportsmen of Wing Suit, Base Jumping and Paragliding, there is no commercial tandem jump from there. Commercial jumps and flights are performed from the free flight ramp at the base of Pedra Bonita.

  17. Is transport included? How do I get there?

    A: With the transportation option you can be picked up at your hotel and then go to the tour meeting point in a executive car. It is optional only for private groups. If you prefer one of the options without transportation, we will tell you the best way to get to the meeting point in the confirmation email of your tour.

  18. What is the difference between open and private group?

    A: The open group tour allows any customer to participate, however a minimum of 3 people is required for the group to leave and a 72 hour advance notice to reserve a new date if the existing dates are not compatible for you. There is no transportation to the place of the tour, a meeting point will be used. The private group tour includes an option of transportation to the activity site with different rates. Optional activities can be requested during the booking process if available.
