Itinerary

What is the itinerary of Jalapão Experience?

  • Day 1: Palmas, Capital of the Tocantins
    • Reception at Palmas Airport and Transfer to the Hotel in the Center of Palmas. You will enjoy a free day to get to know the surroundings of the hotel and the city
  • Day 2: Palmas X Mateiros
    • Departure at 7am from Palmas to Jalapão. Around 9am, arrival in Ponte Alta of the Tocantins, entry of the Jalapão. Quick stop to go the bathroom and supply. At 9am, we head to the first destination, Prainha do Rio Novo. Stop for lunch at the Restaurant Rio Novo (included), and then have free time at the restaurant. In the afternoon, we get to know the postcard of Jalapão, the dunes. Aroud 7:30pm, we arrive in Mateiros city and have dinner at the Beira da Mata restaurant (included). After dinner, we check in at the Hotel in Mateiros.
    • Your lodging will be at Pousada dos Buritis or similar.
    • Meals included: Lunch and Dinner
  • Day 3: Jalapão
    • After breakfast, we head to the Fervedouro, a spring with a flow of water so strong that you can not sink. At 10am, we visit the community of Mumbuca, where we find handicrafts made of golden grass. We stop for lunch in the Restaurante Soninho (included). At 2pm, we go to the Cachoeira da Formiga (Ant Waterfall) with crystalline waters. At 5pm, we head back to Mateiros. Dinner at the Beira da Mata Restaurant (included). Overnight in Mateiros.
    • Your lodging will be at Pousada dos Buritis or similar.
    • Meals included: Lunch and Dinner
  • Day 4: Jalapão
    • After breakfast, we go to São Felix do Tocantins, with a stop at the Fervedouro Bela Vista. At 11:30am, we have lunch break, at Bela Vista restaurant (included). At 1pm, we head to Palmas, passing through the Serra da Catedral and the Morro do Gorgulho, where we stop for photos. At 7:30pm, we arrive in Palmas. Overnight in Palmas.
    • Your lodging will be in Palmas
    • Meals included: Lunch
  • Day 5: Transfer to Palmas Airport
    • Depending on the hour of your flight, we pick up the luggage and board the vehicle to Palmas airport.

How do I get there?

There are international flights direct to Palmas and a lot of national flights from all the main cities in Brazil. The airport in Palmas is PMW and has quite a standard infrastructure for such a remote place.

Is there transfer service?

Yes. In Pamas there is receptive service from the airport to the hotel.

Is it safe?

Palmas is the capital of the Tocantins and as a big city it has problems as any other big city in the world. However, there is no need to be afraid. Just keep your belongings with you and pay attention to your bags and everything is should be fine.

What ages is it suitable?

The journey to the Jalapão Experience is suitable to people of any age. As long as you don’t have mobility problems, such a case that we do not recommend this adventure, you will fully enjoy.

What’s the physical effort involved?
