Unveiling Brazil’s Parks

UNVEILING BRAZIL’S PARKS

Brazilian natural parks are not only spectacles of biodiversity; they represent a powerful tool for sustainable development and for strengthening environmental awareness among the population. With the potential to generate around one million jobs and contribute up to R$ 44 billion to the country’s GDP, the role of these protected areas is strategic for Brazil.
These data, coming from initiatives focused on organizing visitation in these areas, such as the Visitômetro of Brazil’s Parks, are essential for planning and the efficient management of these spaces.

The Visitômetro: Knowledge for conservation

Desvendando os Parques do Brasil

The Visitômetro of Brazil’s Parks is a study created to fill an important gap, gathering unprecedented information that expands the understanding of visitation in national and state parks throughout the country. Its launch demonstrates the strategic value of park visitation and the need to invest in improving the management of these areas.
Monitoring visitation is a central element. Knowing the visitor, their patterns, and preferences is essential so that park management can meet both conservation goals and public expectations. This monitoring reinforces the social and environmental relevance of parks, strengthens the public agenda, and attracts investment.

Data that transforms (2023 Overview):

• In 2023, total visits to Brazilian parks reached the highest level ever recorded: 15.9 million.
• Of this total, 11.8 million occurred in national parks and 4.1 million in state parks, an unprecedented figure for the sector.
• There was growth of more than 160% in the number of recorded visits compared to 2012.
• Monitoring, which was previously limited, grew significantly, increasing from 49 monitored parks in 2012 to 165 in 2023—more than three times as many.
However, the study also highlights challenges, such as the strong concentration of visitation. The three most visited parks (Tijuca, Iguaçu, and Jericoacoara) accounted for 49% of total visitation in 2023, underscoring the need for more strategic planning to distribute visitor flows and support the development of lesser-visited parks.

Nattrip and Responsible Tourism in the parks

Nattrip believes that effective management, based on data such as that provided by the Visitômetro, is crucial for parks to fulfill their role. Our fieldwork in more than 40 Conservation Units directly reflects the principles that monitoring seeks to strengthen:

Desvendando os Parques do Brasil

1. Commitment to conservation and positive impact

Our commitment is to responsible tourism, valuing local communities and contributing directly to conservation. Our itineraries operate in protected natural areas and generate income for local communities. We believe your vacation should be amazing for you while also leaving a positive impact on Brazil.
While monitoring seeks to develop targeted environmental education actions, we actively promote environmental education through our activities and encourage regenerative practices. Our presence in preserved natural areas is carried out with proper authorizations and respect for the environment, actively participating in the conservation of parks and trails.

2. Safety and professionalism as a priority

The Visitômetro highlights the importance of management and the regulation of visits. For us, safety is not a promise; it is a technical process carried out with responsibility. We operate with tested operational protocols, validated itineraries, and an implemented Safety Management System (SMS), in compliance with official technical standards. Our expeditions include remote monitoring and safety equipment, as well as trained guides and leaders.

3. Promoting diversity and exploring the “Out of the Ordinary”

The study reveals the concentration of visits in a few parks. Nattrip, in turn, helps you experience Brazil beyond the obvious. We present the “Nature of Brazil” in its plural essence, revealed through the diversity of biomes, culture, hospitality, and multiple flavors.
We offer itineraries ranging from hikes in the Atlantic Forest to expeditions in the Cerrado, with standout destinations such as Chapada Diamantina, Pantanal, Amazon, Jalapão, and Lençóis Maranhenses.
Our trips are an invitation to discovery, connection, and immersion.
