It consists in a 32 kms difficult and technical hike, with steep ascents and descents across the mountains, connecting the cities of Petrópolis and Teresópolis in the state of Rio de Janeiro.

The Petrópolis Teresópolis Crossing, also known as the Serra dos Órgãos Crossing, is usually realized in 3 days and counts with the support of Mountain Shelters with bathrooms, kitchen and even bunk-beds to stay overnight.

2) Mount Roraima

The Mount Roraima is located on the triple border between Brazil, Venezuela and Guyana in South America. It is a Tepuy, a type of formation in table format, and its summit is known by many as ‘The Lost World’. Delimited by cliffs of around 1,000 meters high, its plateau presents an environment completely different of the Tropical Forest and the savanna vegetation that stands down the hills.

The Mount Roraima Expedition is a long trekking, usually realized in 9 or 11 days, including a few days of approximation, the ascent to the top of the Mount Roraima and then discovering and staying overnight the vast summit of the mountain. During the whole activity, there are very few water supply points, we will go through many hours of walking per day and segments with huge unevenness which requires a high level of resistance and physical effort.

The Serra Fina Crossing has a total 30 km and lasts 4 days of intense experience in the mountains. For many, it is seen as the perfect training for high mountains in Brazil.

5) Ilha Grande 360º Trekking

The Ilha Grande 360º Expedition is one of the most beautiful beach trekkings of Brazil. It has a 6 to 9 days duration and a distance of about 70 km. You will hike approximately 70 km across outstanding beaches and small fishermen villages.

After the complete tour of the island, you can hike up the Parrot Peak, the highest mountain of the island which offer outstanding views on the Island and the Continent. There is also the option of crossing only the half of the island, a distance of about 30 km in 3 days.

The Ilha Grande Trekking is the perfect mix between beach and mountains, taking trails in the middle of the Atlantic Forest, constant ascents and descents, and crossing countless rivers and paradisiacal beaches!

6) Paraty Wilderness Trekking

8) Pedra do Sino Trekking

Pedra do Sino is located in the mountain region of Rio de Janeiro, at 2,275m high. It is the highest point in the Serra dos Órgãos Moutain Range as well as the famous Petrópolis Teresópolis trekking (see Trekking nº1).

During the Expedition, the participants will hike on average 6 hours per day, during which they are able to observe the transition from the rich vegetation of the Atlantic Forest to the vegetation of high altitude fields, with a wide diversity of flora, such as bromeliads and orchids.

The Portais de Hércules Expedition is also located in the Serra dos Órgãos National Park. It consists in a 2-days Trekking and offers the best viewpoint on the Serra dos Órgãos Moutain Range.

The sunrise from the Portais de Hércules viewpoint is breathtaking – as far as I am concerned, it is the most beautiful sunrise I have seen in my entire life. Hiking up and down the mountains and waking up at 3:30 am to admire the mountain range are completely worth it.

10) Marins Itaguaré Crossing

The Marins Itaguaré Crossing is the most classic São Paulo Expedition, crossing the mountain ridge existing between the Marins and Itaguaré Peaks, passing through the interesting rock formation of the Pedra Redonda.

Without including the ascent to both Peaks, you will hike about 14 km due to the difficulties of the trails: many technical parts and very few water supply points. Then, many kilometers will be added to the trekk to climb both peaks on a go-return basis, from where you will be able to contemplate the beautiful Serra da Mantiqueira.
