How to get to Bico do Papagaio?
Check out where it is and how to get to Bico do Papagaio: located within the limits of the Tijuca National Park, Pedra Bonita is in sector A of the PNT, which includes trails through the Atlantic Forest.
The walk starts very calmly and goes on to the base of the mountain, where we find a little more natural obstacles, a more rugged and steep climb. From the top of Bico do Papagaio it is possible to appreciate the main mountains of the Tijuca National Park such as Pico da Tijuca, Pedra do Conde, Cocanha, Pedra Bonita and Pedra da Gávea, in addition to Sumaré and a small part of Corcovado and Cristo Redentor.
The Bico do Papagaio has 989m of altitude, making it the second highest mountain in the Tijuca National Park and also has an amazing and vertical rappel.
Where is the Bico do Papagaio?

The entrance to sector A of the Tijuca National Park is at Praça Afonso Viseu, the famous square in Alto da Boa Vista. It is possible to climb the Alto both for those who come from Barra da Tijuca and Itanhangá (Estrada das Furnas) and for those who come from Tijuca, North Zone.
How to get to Bico do Papagaio by Public Transport?
By bus:
For those coming from the west side of Rio, the best option is to take a bus to the Alvorada terminal, in Barra da Tijuca. At the terminal, take the BRT towards Jardim Oceânico and get off at Praça Euvaldo Lodi. From there, cross the walkway and take the 645 towards Alto da Boa Vista and get off at Praça Afonso Vizeu.
For those coming from the north of Rio, the best option is to take the 301 or 302 going up Alto da Boa Vista, get off at Praça Afonso Vizeu and follow the Estrada da Cascatinha until the entrance to the PNT.
For those leaving from Zona Sul or from the center of Rio, the best option is to take any bus heading to Zona Oeste and get off at the São Conrado walkway. From there take the 448.
Note: The 448 bus doesn’t pass very often, so be prepared to wait. If you come back at night, you will hardly get the bus to get off.
How to get to Bico do Papagaio de Carro?
By car:
For those leaving the South Zone, the best option is to go to São Conrado. Cross the Zuzu Angel tunnel, through the crow’s nest, or along the edge of Leblon, crossing Niemeyer Avenue, which has a beautiful view of the sea.
When arriving in São Conrado, pay attention to the signs that indicate the entrance to the Estrada das Canoas. Follow it until you reach Estrada de Furnas, you will follow it until you reach Praça Afonso Vizeu.
For those leaving the North Zone, go up through Alto da Boa Vista towards Praça Afonso Vizeu.
