Composed of interesting abstract rock formations, reveals magnificent waterfalls over 100 meters high with bracing rock pools for swimming. It’s located in the Brazilian Cerrado, an ecossystem that is home to many exotic wildlife such the giant anteater, jaguars, armadillos and specially birds like macaws and toucans.

What is the itinerary of Chapada dos Veadeiros National Park?

  • Day 1: Transfer Brasilia x Chapada dos Veadeiros
    • Reception at Brasília airport (BSB), transfer to Pirenópolis village (around 150km/90 miles), check-in the lodge and go for lunch in a typical local restaurant.
    • Meals included: Lunch
  • Day 2: Local city tour & Bonsucesso Farm waterfalls
    • Enjoy a historical and cultural city tour, with visit to the main monuments of the eighteenth and nineteenth century and lunch at the village. After lunch, board the transfer to visit the Bonsucesso farm and its complex of 6 incredible waterfalls.
    • Meals included: Breakfast and Lunch
  • Day 3: The Abade reserve and the Pirineus state park
    • Let’s head to the Abade reserve. There we will enjoy a circular hike of 2,5 km (1,55 miles) between fields and forests of Cerrado biome and visit 4 waterfalls where you can shower and swim.
    • Then we head to the Pirineus state park, to hike up the hills, between the veredas (local flora formation) and interesting rock formations of millions of years. We finish the day at 1.400 meters of altitude in the second highest peak of the central Brazil.

  • Day 4: Buddhist Monastery and The Waterfalls of Dragons
    • We will visit a Buddhist temple in one of the most unspoilt regions of the Cerrado, the Várzea do Lobo, where we’ll hike through riparian forest and wet fields, to make our way to the fantastic complex of eight waterfalls named Waterfalls of Dragons, with beautiful quartzite walls.

  • Day 5: The villages of Alto Paraíso & São Jorge
    • Time to board the transfer for a 360 km (220 miles) trip to Alto Paraíso village, where we’ll have lunch and then move on to São Jorge village to check in at the inn.
    • Meals included: Breakfast and Lunch
  • Day 6: The cascades of São Bento farm
    • Let’s head to São Bento farm. There we’ll hike between the Cerrado rocks and veredas in search of the best waterfalls and cascades. Our first stop is at the waterfall Almecega I, with colorful walls, crystal clear water natural pools, lookouts and viewpoints. Then, we move on to Almecega II and Cachoeira São Bento. Late lunch in São Jorge village.
    • Meals included: Breakfast and Lunch
  • Day 7: Canyons & the waterfall of Cariocas
    • In this day we visit the canyons to access its trails. We will visit Canyons 1 and 2 with large quartzite walls and several natural pools. Then hike 3 km (2 miles) to the waterfall of Cariocas, where the black river collapses in a 30 meters fall. Lunch in São Jorge village.
    • Meals included: Breakfast and Lunch
  • Day 8: The Valley of the Moon & Return to Brasília
    • Our last destination is to close with the golden key! Valley of the Moon is part of a private farmstead along São Miguel River, presenting exotic formations similar to lunar craters, that have been sculpted by the waters for millions of years. Our lunch will be in Alto Paraíso village and then we’ll return to Brasília.

How do I get there?

There are international flights direct to Brasilia and a lot of national flights from all the main cities in Brazil. The airport in Brasilia is BSB and has good infrastructure.

Is there transfer service?

Yes. In Brasilia there is receptive service from the airport to Chapada dos Veadeiros.

Is it safe?

Brasilia is the capital of Brazil and as a big city it has problems as any other big city in the world. However, there is no need to be afraid. Just keep your belongings with you and pay attention to your bags and everything is should be fine. While in the Chapada dos Veadeiros, you will be in rural and natural areas, totally safe.

What ages is it suitable?

The journey to the Chapada dos Veadeiros is suitable to people of any age. As long as you don’t have mobility problems, such a case that we do not recommend this adventure, you will fully enjoy.

What’s the physical effort involved?

Some of the activities in this package involve physical effort, such as hiking. However it is not very demanding.

Do I have to do any training?

No need to be expert nor take any trainings.

Any wildlife risks?

Very remote risk. You will be inside the cerrado environment but in areas with visitation of humans (jaguars tend to be away). Although there are wild and poison animals around the chance of crossing very close to one of those is remote. If eventually you do, keep a safe distance and strictly follow the instructions of the activity leader. Wildlife is not the highest level risk in this adventure, other than slipping and falling while in waterfall area.

Where do we sleep?

Good comfort and high level inns have been selected. However, we should remind you that this adventure takes place in quite remote rural and natural areas. Do not expect luxury.

How do we get water?

It is possible to buy mineral water in most of the places we will visit. We recommend to bring a Squizze to fill it with water.

What do we eat?

During the hikes, we will have snacks. Then, we will have late lunch in the city/village, where local typical food with different types of meat will be available. There are options for vegetarians and vegans.

Do I have to bring cash?

Yes, consider that drinks are not included and you might want to buy local handcrafted souvenirs.

Will my cell phone work?

Yes, in Pirenópolis and the biggest villages of the Chapada dos Veadeiros, cell phones work.

Are there any Wi-Fi spots?

Yes, Wi-Fi service is available in most of the Inns.

What are the luggage restrictions?

No restrictions while in the Chapada dos Veadeiros. Please consider the airline luggage restricions.
