Chapada Diamantina National Park – State of Bahia in northeast Brazil

The Chapada Diamantina National Park is one of the most fascinating natural parks in Brazil, located in the state of Bahia (Northeast Brazil). It is one of the most popular adventure tourism and ecotourism destinations in the country with much to offer within gorgeous vegetation and amongst an abundance of flora and fauna.

Composed by a scenic mountain range that has an average altitude between 800 and 1.200m, it was created in 1985 with an area of 152 thousand hectares in total, offering amazing tours all year round. Two of Brazil’s Big Five animals can be found around here: the Jaguar and the Giant Anteater.

Within the Chapada Diamantina National Park, this mountainous ara offers diverse options of natural attractions, such as the highest mountains of Northeast Brazil and the famous waterfall Cachoeira da Fumaça, a beautiful 340 meters high cascade. Besides that, natural pools, canyons, gorges, river springs and the 5th biggest cave of Brazil can be found there. The Chapada Diamantina Park is composed of 24 areas and towns. The entrance of the Park and most well known is the small town of Lençóis.
