What is the itinerary of the Package Pantanal Wildlife, Rio de Janeiro and Iguassu Falls?

We will start our experience with the Marvelous City, Rio de Janeiro. There we will meet countless natural landscapes, warmfull people and a bustling nightlife. After that, we’ll head to Iguassu to enjoy Iguassu Falls and its 275 falls at both (Brazilian and Argentinian) sides. Then we’ll go to Pantanal, which is considered a World Heritage Site by UNESCO. This site offers numerous attractions and unique experiences of contact with nature, thanks to the influence of three important biomes: Amazon, Cerrado and Atlantic Forest.

  • Day 1: Welcome to Rio!
    • Today you will be met at the airport and transferred to your accommodation. Unpack, get comfortable and prepare to spend the rest of the day exploring the city at your own pace.
  • Day 2: City tour across Rio de Janeiro
    • Meals included: Breakfast and lunch
    • The full day city tour in Rio de Janeiro will take you to visit the main attractions and natural monuments of the city. Let’s explore what the marvelous city has to offer. We start the tour going to Corcovado, where one of the seven wonders of the modern world is located, the Statue of Christ the Redeemer.Then we’ll head towards Tijuca Forest, a place of many stories and beautiful natural wonders. Let’s sightsee one of the biggest urban tropical forest of the world, home of many animals and plants species only found in the Atlantic Rainforest.There will be a break for an outside visit at the famous Maracanã Stadium to learn about the history of the stadium that hosted the World Cup finals in 1950 and 2014. The tour continues towards the Sambadrome, which is the stage of the Samba School Parades performances during Rio de Janeiro Carnival. We’ll also visit the Metropolitan Cathedral of São Sebastião, patron of the city. The tour continues towards the Sugar Loaf complex, to board the most famous cable car in the world.Near there, Morro da Urca awaits for our visit, by the side of Praia Vermelha beach and the old Casino of Urca. We’ll end our full day city tour visiting the most famous beaches of the city: Copacabana, Ipanema and Leblon.All tickets are included and also lunch at an upscale barbecue lunch (with vegetarian options).NOTE: During the Carnival this tour works in a shorter version visiting only Christ the Redeemer and Sugar Loaf. If you want to do the full version, it’s important to arrive in Rio few days before carnival starts.
  • Day 3: Survival in the Jungle & Wildlife Observation
    • Meals included: Breakfast
    • The Pedra Bonita trail requires light physical effort and will get you to know one of the most breathtaking natural sights and viewpoints of Rio de Janeiro. Pedra Bonita is 693m/2273ft high and is located at the Tijuca National Park.Because of its privileged location, the Pedra Bonita region has the only free flight take-off ramp in the city of Rio de Janeiro, from where it is possible to Hang-glide or Paraglide. You can watch the flights and, on top of that, it’s a beautiful spot to take pictures.The view at the top of the Pedra Bonita is mesmerizing: you will see the Pedra da Gávea between Barra da Tijuca and São Conrado beaches and be surrounded by the magnificent green of the Tijuca National Park, which will bring a unique sense of freedom and peace.
  • Day 4: Boat tour – discover Angra dos Reis and Ilha Grande
    • Meals included: Breakfast and lunch
    • Angra dos Reis is a coastal city that hosts the big and beautiful Ilha Grande. Its bay presents 365 islands, if you could visit one per day it would take you a year to get to know them all. Let’s explore the best of it!The tour starts in an air conditioned transportation from Rio de Janeiro towards Costa Verde, a region that goes from the southern coast of Rio de Janeiro to the north coast of São Paulo. After two hours we’ll arrive at Angra dos Reis city. There we’ll start a boat tour around Ilha Grande bay and the main islands of the region. Make sure to bring your swimming suits because you’ll have a lot of fun over the breathtaking beaches of the region.
  • Day 5: Transfer to Iguassu Falls and free night
    • Meals included: Breakfast
    • We will pick you up at your accommodation in Rio de Janeiro and transfer to the airport (GIG) to fly to Iguassu (tickets not included). Arriving at Iguassu Falls Airport (IGU) our receptive service will be waiting you to take you to your accommodation. Spend the rest of the day enjoying the city at your own pace.
  • Day 6: The Brazilian side of Iguassu Falls
    • Meals included: Breakfast
    • Seeing the Falls from the Brazilian side gives you a complete panoramic view. It is considered the best way to understand how big and how wonderful this place is.
      We’ll take a 1,5km/1miles journey through nature, approaching it’s highlight at the main bridge, that is really close to the falls. It’s a proper baptism, getting everybody wet with the spray that comes from this amazing natural wonder.
      *Walking around the Brazilian national park takes around 2 hours.

      In the afternoon our bilingual guide will take you to Aguaray Ecosport, a protected area next to the National Park. Here we will hike up a 45 min long trail through the preserved rainforest, reaching the border of the Iguassu river, where you will start a guided tour on a Kayak or a Stand Up Paddle. After the breathtaking paddle that takes about 1 h 30 min to be completed, we will hike another trail for about 20 min, heading to a 15 meter high waterfall. A perfect experience for any nature lover!

  • Day 7: The Argentinian side of Iguassu Falls
    • Meals included: Breakfast
    • We’ll walk around 5km/3miles along different waterfalls that together makes up one of the new seven wonders of nature: Iguassu Falls.
      The experience in Argentina takes you through an intensive contact with nature, offering the possibility of observing some native animals and the amazing vegetation of the subtropical forest of the National Park.

      You will walk along three different trails that will give you different points of view of the falls.
      One of the highlights is the view of Devil´s Throat: a platform that takes you right in front these impressive falls.

      The entire activity will take approximately 6 hours
      Level of difficulty : Easy to medium level

      It is mandatory to carry valid photo documents (RG, CNH or Passport) to cross the border with Argentina.

  • Day 8: Transfer to Pantanal Jungle Lodge
    • Meals included: Breakfast, lunch and dinner
    • We will pick you up at your accommodation and get you to the airport to take your flight to Campo Grande, the capital of Mato Grosso do Sul.  After your arrival, we’ll take a 5 hours transfer to Pantanal. Getting there, you’ll be able to join one of the group activities, depending on the jungle lodge schedule.The activities available are: Photo Safari, done in adapted vehicles that enables the guests to cover long distances while observing the peculiarities and the contrasts of vegetation, as well as the variety of animals;
       Horseback Riding, which is the most traditional way to get to know Pantanal, exploring regions where we can not go in any other way. Pantaneiro horses are completely adapted to the wetlands, and even those who had never ridden a horse before can make this tour. There are different trails, with long and short routes according to the guests skills and/or preferences;
       Walking, taken in many trails in the surrounding areas of the lodges, the walks can be done in dense bush, open fields or gallery forests and they allow the guests the observation of small animals and the local vegetation. Reinforcing the ecological focus of this activity, the lodges alternate the trails minimizing the impacts upon the environment;
       Canoeing, done in the bays or rivers around the lodges. The guests row in three-seat canoes and contemplate the neary vegetation, water, birds and, possibly, other animals such as capybaras and caimans. It’s also a good opportunity to watch the fantastic Pantanal’s Sunset;
       Boat Tours, which is the best way to get to know some of the rivers that compose the Pantanal and the beauty and exuberance of their gallery forest: the natural habitat of birds, mammals and reptiles, which sometimes can be found easily on the river banks;
       Night Safari, a tour that provides the opportunity to observe nocturnal animals, such as Anteaters, foxes and others.
  • Day 9: Pantanal Jungle Lodge Activities
    • Meals included: Breakfast, lunch and dinner
    • Take your breakfast and prepare yourself to take another one of the tours offered by the jungle lodge. Then you’ll return to the lodge, have lunch and after a short break another tour will be waiting for you. (The activities depends on the lodge schedule). Remembering that the activities are: Photo safari, horseback riding, walking, canoeing, boat tours and night safari.
  • Day 10: Pantanal Jungle Lodge Activities
    • Meals included: Breakfast, lunch and dinner
    • After breakfast you will join the jungle lodge group for the first activity of the day. It’s more likely that this tour would be a photo safari or a horseback riding (but it will depend on the hotel schedule). When you return to the lodge a delicious lunch will be waiting for you and there will be a short break before the next tour (which will also follow the hotel schedule). Return to the lodge by the end of the afternoon for dinner.  Remembering that the activities are: Photo safari, horseback riding, walking, canoeing, boat tours and night safari.
  • Day 11: Pantanal Jungle Lodge Acivities
    • Meals included: Breakfast, lunch and dinner
    • You’ll have another day to explore the tours offered by the lodge or enjoy the city at your own peace. Remembering that the activities are: Photo safari, horseback riding, walking, canoeing, boat tours and night safari.
  • Day 12: Return to Campo Grande to flight to Rio
    • Meals included: Breakfast
    • And it’s the end. You’ll have breakfast and return to Campo Grande. We will take you to the airport and have a safe trip!

  • Although most of the tourists can rely on fast and easy electronic e-Visas, depending on your country of origin a standard Visa can be required to enter Brazil.

How do I get there?

There are international flights to Rio de Janeiro, Foz and Campo Grande, and a lot of national flights from all the main cities in Brazil.

Is there transfer service?

Yes. There is receptive service from the airport to the hotel.

Is it safe?

Rio de Janeiro is a big city and it has problems as any other big city in the world. However, there is no need to be afraid. Just keep your belongings with you and pay attention to your bags and everything should be fine. The same goes for Foz do Iguaçu and Campo Grande.

What ages is it suitable?

The journey to Rio is suitable to people of any age. However, the kayak expedition in Foz do Iguaçu is only avaiable for children older than 12 years old. Also, some of the activities in Pantanal are not recomended for little children. If you wish, we can change the tours according to your needs.

What’s the physical effort involved?

Some of the activities in this package involve physical effort, such as hiking. However, it is not very demanding. Therefore, as long as you don’t have mobility problems, such a case that we do not recommend this adventure, you will fully enjoy.

Do I have to do any training?

No need to be expert in anything. Afterall our guides will be there to support you.

Any wildlife risks?

Yes. You will be inside the jungle and there are wild and poison animals around. Although they are wild, they do not wish to start a war with you. So just keep a safe distance and strictly follow the instructions of the activity leader. Wildlife is the highest level risk event in this adventure.

Will my cell phone work?

Yes, and all the hotels offers wi-fi connection.

What are the luggage restrictions?

Please consider the airline luggage restricions!

Any packing tips?

Backpacking packs are recommended for comfort but any kind of luggage should be fine.
