Corcovado Mountain – Rio de Janeiro – Brazil

The Iconic Corcovado Mountain in Rio de Janeiro

Visiting the Corcovado Mountain along with the statue Christ the Redeemer is the main touristic attraction and definitely a tour not to miss in Rio de Janeiro.

The magnificent Christ statue is the biggest and most famous sculpture of Art Déco in the world. It was created by a French sculptor and built by a Brazilian and a French engineers over 5 years. The monument opened its doors to public in 1931. It is nowadays listed as one of the New Seven Wonders of the World.

The Corcovado Mountain is situated within the Tijuca Forest National Park, enjoying a high degree of protection. It is 710 metres high and its priviledged location in Rio de Janeiro offers one of the most beautiful views in the city. The statue itself, notable for its natural beauty and prime positioning, is 30 metres high and depicts Jesus Christ standing over the city of Rio de Janeiro with his arms outstretched.

There are several ways to get to the top of the Corcovado Mountain. First, the most traditional way to get to Christ the Redeemer is to take the tram which crosses the Mata Atlântica until Corcovado’s top. It is also possible to get there by van or by car. And, our favourite option, is to get to top hiking a 2h trail in the middle of the exuberant Tijuca Forest. The Corcovado Mountains also hosts many rock climbing routes which are some of the most difficult in Rio!

Whatever option you choose to get to the top of the Corcovado Moutain, Nattrip will take you there: you just have to select your favourite option!
